A woman had seen a skinny pit bull running around in Compton, LA County, California. She knew she wanted to help the dog so she managed to get him into her car and then drove him to a shelter.

That’s where Shira, with The Animal Rescue Mission, spotted the dog, now named Charlie Bear. He was wagging his tail and it was obvious to her he just wanted to be loved.

But Shira knew he couldn’t go into the shelter so she immediately began calling veterinarians for help. Her sister rescue, Peace 4 Animals, pulled out a miracle and got the “sweet angel” into seeing a vet.

They weren’t sure Charlie Bear would make it but on Day 3 the vets shared a video with Shira that made her sigh with relief.

Shira had a friend whose friend Jay had voiced interest in Charlie Bear. He told her, “That’s my son, that’s my dog.” And Charlie Bear immediately thought “that’s my dad” when they met for the first time. They connected right away and it was love at first sight.

The first night at his new home Charlie Bear jumped onto the bed and was cuddling.

And the two love spending time at the beach together and go there almost every day.

It’s so wonderful to see Charlie Bear now living his best life!
