The woman was leaving a cafe on a cold and rainy day in Zonguldak, Turkey, according to The Dodo.
As she stops to prepare herself for the weather she notices something on the ground at her feet.
Trying to get some warmth and shelter from the cafe was a homeless dog. The poor dog was trying to avoid the weather by getting as close as he could to the cafe.
The woman couldn’t pass the dog by without helping and what she did next has captured the hearts of people all over the world.
In just a few seconds she made a small gesture that made a huge difference to this dog. She sacrificed some of her own comfort for this shivering animal.
But this small gesture did not go unnoticed and when a video of her was posted online she was praised for her actions across social media, print media and TV.
One person recognized the generous woman as her friend Duygu Elma and she was tracked down to be interviewed.
“I couldn’t imagine that my actions would receive this attention. I’m very surprised about it,” Duygu told The Dodo. “The weather was so cold. I just couldn’t take it when I saw him shivering.”
